At the moment we have about 3 players who are strong enough and could regularly play league matches. Ideally we need to get that number up to 8. SO if you are interested in joining us, just turn up and try us out! There are a number of benefits to playing for Hursley badminton club.

1. Once you have paid your years membership, all of your fees are paid for. This includes Badminton England affiliation (we can reduce the membership fee if you are already affiliated) and ALL match fees. We even provide the biscuits for home games.
2. We are just about to switch to playing full-time with Yonex AS-30 feather shuttles. All shuttles are provided by the club for club nights and matches.
3. Our facilities are actually quite good. 3 solid well-marked out courts, with a flat and reasonably high roof. Good condition nets.
4. Very friendly welcoming club, seeking some new players to help us compete in the league!

If you are at all interested, why don’t you pop down and say hello! We only charge £3 for a guest. I’m normally there every night (Wed+Fri) from 8pm onwards, just ask for Chris.

So we head towards our final game in 5th place but with a very real chance of finishing in 4th place this year. Not the most amazing result but better than last year. Our final match is on the 30th April against the same team.

It’s been a very strange season for us so far. We started the season, with both first pair players unable to make the first 2 games. Then finally as we started to put a much stronger team together we took our first game against BGB Southampton 2, followed by beating the division 3 leaders and everything looked set to do very well. Sadly though, it turns out to be very difficult to field the full team all season and this is a mistake we will definitely not be making next season.

Playing in the league has been a great experience and the club standard has almost certainly been raised as a result. Our goal for next season will be to put together a larger squad so we always have a full, strong team.

Hursley badminton club has a great friendly atmosphere. Lots of banter with both friendly and competitive games being played. We are always looking for new players to join us (all standards are welcome!). We are also currently looking for some new league players to join our division 3 team in the Winchester league. We are just coming to the end of the current season and it has been a bit of a mixed bag of results. I’ll save the gory details for another post but with a full team we beat the current league table leaders. Sadly though, playing the full squad for every game turned out to be impossible leading to some rather odd results throughout the year and probably not as impressive a finish as we had hoped for. So if you are looking to play some serious league badminton, please come along and try the club out.
